Steven Ross Abercrombie
January 24, 1958 – October 25, 2025
Steven Ross Abercrombie, 67, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, passed away on October 25, 2025. Steve was born on January 24, 1958, at St. Margaret's Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Abercrombie; brother, Danny Abercrombie (Annette Phillips); aunt and uncle, Corky (Tom) Boone; nephew, Dustin Abercrombie (Madison); and great-nephews, Jaxon and Hudson Abercrombie. He is also survived by the loved ones with whom he shared his life and held very close to his heart - Cheryl Abercrombie, Stephanie (Brandan) McGehee and their children Tristan, Tailey, and Kylee; and Amber (Dave) Ward and their children Lucas, Ricki, Rhoni, David, and Sierra.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Ross Abercrombie; grandparents James and Marie Abercrombie; and grandparents Bennie and Opal Hale.
Growing up, Steve loved spending time with his brother and friends, riding his dirt bike, and working on his Chevelles. He attended Shawnee Mission Northwest High School his freshman year and graduated from De Soto High School.
Throughout his life, Steve worked as an electrician, a long-haul truck driver, and later with Miles Excavating, where he was a proud member of Teamsters Local 541.
Steve was known for his easygoing spirit, laid-back nature, and the way he never met a stranger. He was the kind of person you could always count on - the one who'd show up to help, no matter the hour. He had more friends than anyone could count, and chances are, wherever you go, you'll find someone who knew Steve. With a heart of gold and a voice that could light up a room, Steve had a gift for storytelling and making everyone feel welcome.
He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the
Alden-Harrington Funeral Home
