Walter Scott Church III, age 85, of Kansas City, KS, passed away on Oct. 31, 2025. The family has decided that there will not be any public services, rather the family will have a private moment.
Walter was born on August 10, 1940, in Kansas City KS, to Walter and Evelyn Church. Walter was married to the love of his life for 63 years before her passing in 2023. Together they shared 3 Children. Walter dedicated his life to taking care of others. He served in the United States Coast Guard for a total of 8 years. Walter joined the KCK Fire Department in 1966 where he became a Captain and stayed for the remainder of his career. His dedication to others was unsurpassed.
Although Watler spent his professional life protecting those in his community, there was nothing more important to him than his family. He truly enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and boating.
He is loved beyond measure and his presence and guidance in our lives will be greatly missed every day.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife Marieta, his parents Walter and Evelyn, his Stepfather, Frank Wuckowitsch and his sister, Carol.
Survivors include His children: Walter IV, Cathy and Bill, Suzanne and Aron. Grandchildren: Walter V and Courtney, Travis, Amanda, Samantha and Richard, Katilin and Austin, Chandler, Michael and Gabbie, Harley and Breanna, Shyanne and Taylor. Great-Grandchildren: Jocelyn, Lilly, Brayden, Lukas, Evelyn, James, Hudson, Hayes, Henry, Sierra and Tyler, Faith, Chelsey, Monroe, Auna, Riley, Alex, Eli, Connell and Daniel. Great-Great Grandchildren: Josiah, Hunter and Weston. His Brothers James and Roger, sister-in-law Pam and brother-in-law Terry.
