Rodney D. Tomblin 83, of Bolivar, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. Born July 21, 1940 in Orlando, W.Va., he was a son of the late Dale H. and Wanda (Workman) Tomblin. He retired as a Supervisor in 1998 from the Timken Company after 36 years. He attended Dover First Christian Church in Dover and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the Bolivar American Legion Post 190, the Viet Nam Veterans Association #857 and the Marine Corp League.
Rodney is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Seward, whom he married December 7, 1963. Also surviving are 2 sons Stacy (Shelley) Tomblin of Rydal, Georgia and Eric (Kelli) Tomblin of Bolivar; 5 grandchildren Shana (Mauricio) Peraza, Stormy Tomblin, Seth Tomblin, Kaitlin (Bryce) Byer and Eric Dale Tomblin; 1 great grandson Gio Peraza and 6 sisters Velma Cramblett of Arizona, Voneta Dolvin of New Cumberland, Viola (Don) Yost of New Philadelphia, Verla Bailey of Mineral City, S. Kay Tomblin of Bolivar and Brenda (Richard) Halchuk of Bolivar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Rondall Tomblin and 3 brothers-in law Thurman Bailey, John Cramblet and Willis Dolvin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar. Pastor Josh Robinson will officiate and burial will follow in Ft. Laurens Cemetery in Bolivar where military honors will be conducted. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 PM and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
