Roger E. Beaulieu, or "Reb" as he was known, passed away on October 2, 2023 at Clovis Health Care and Rehabilitation in Clovis, NM. He was born on September 1, 1927 in Lowell, Massachusetts to George and Mary Cora Beaulieu. He grew up in Dracut, Massachusetts, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing ice hockey at his family's swim club and resort, Red Top Beach on Long Pond.
At age 16, he joined the Merchant Marines during World War II. He also served in the United States Navy, the Florida National Guard, and finally the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base and started a gun shop out of his house. After his discharge from the military, he opened REB's Gun Shop. As his business grew, so did his family. He had five sons, including David, Ronald, Michael, Alan and Roy. He sold the gun shop in 1985 and retired.
He had a zest for life and made sure he lived every day to its fullest. He loved to travel, and lived in Japan, Alaska, Florida, and Mexico. He had time share condominiums in New Orleans and Las Vegas.
Reb had a number of hobbies including hunting, fly fishing, and martial arts. While he was stationed in Japan, he learned Judo and became a black belt. He had his private pilot's license and was fluent in four languages including English, Spanish, French and Japanese. He was pretty good on the guitar, and liked to make his own beer, wine, and brandy.
He was highly interested in holistic medicine and home remedies. He took no prescription medication of any kind until the last weeks of his long life.
Reb was a real "people person" and never met a stranger. He was quick witted, and loved to tell a good joke until the very end.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Stella, and his second wife Esther.
He is survived by his five sons; David, Ronald (Lisa), Michael (Denise), Alan and Roy (Laura).
Reb had eight grandchildren; Jaquay, Kevin, Beau, Jason, Steven, Ethan, Aleck and Julia.
He had twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
