Obituary published on Legacy.com by Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel - Monrovia on Oct. 4, 2023.
Roger L. Cesnik, 75, of Mooresville, passed from this life unexpectedly after a brief illness in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 1, 2023, while in the care of Methodist Hospital. He was born in Indianapolis on October 15, 1947, to the late Louis and Jewel Mae (Johnson) Cesnik.
Growing up in Indianapolis, Roger attended George Washington High School, proudly graduating with the class of 1965. Originally securing employment with Rand McNalley, he was forced to make a career change when the company closed its doors. Taking the position as a dedicated mail carrier for the USPS, Roger worked several years, until retiring, enabling him to do the things he loved most-spending time with his family and carpentry.
In 1993, Roger was introduced to the love of his life, Brenda. From the moment they laid eyes on each other it was love at first sight, and he knew she was the one, proposing just a few weeks into the relationship. A year later the happy couple were united in marriage, inseparable for the next 28 years together.
A master with his hands, Roger was a talented carpenter, constructing a large shed, a wraparound deck, deck furniture, along with other small projects around the house. He enjoyed looking at cars and was most recently restoring his father's beloved 1970 Chevy Impala. Intelligent, he remained inquisitive throughout his life, continuously absorbing knowledge.
An honestly charismatic guy, Roger was truly a man's man. He never met a stranger nor had an enemy and kept a wide circle of friends. With his hilarious sense of humor, he was sometimes referred to as the "punny guy", frequently engaging in pun competitions with his grandson. A loyal, sincere, kind, and generous soul, he was genuinely the perfect person. A dedicated family man, he deeply loved those in his circle, and has left them with a void that will never be filled. He will be intensely and forever missed.
Roger leaves behind his best friend and wife, Brenda (Lumpkin) Cesnik of Mooresville; children, Tonya Cesnik of Rockport, Stephanie Parks (Robert, Jr.) of Greenwood, and Marcy Jones of Danville; sister, Debbie Winkhouse (Chris) of Plainfield; grandchildren, Victoria Parks of Muncie, Christian Parks, Robert Parks, III, both of Greenwood, and Charles Heiss (Alicia) of Danville; great grandchildren, Evelyn Ann and Xavier Heiss; along with his niece and nephew, Emma Radionoff (Aaron) of Plainfield, and Sam Winkhouse of Chicago.
