Roger Clark Obituary

Roger Blaine Clark, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2025, following a courageous five-year battle with liver cancer.
Born on April 8, 1939, in Germantown, Ohio, Roger was the youngest of four children born to Ernest and D. Pearl (Pennington) Clark. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ronald, Joyce, and Jeanine.
Roger is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Karen Clark of Charlotte, NC. He was a loving father to his children: the late Kim (Rick) Archer of Dayton, OH; Debbie Bond of Dayton, OH; Roger (Amanda) Clark of Cincinnati, OH; Randy Clark of Miamisburg, OH; Shelly (Brian) Bunn of Charlotte, NC; Stacy (Dan) Scott of Marysville, OH; and Alan (Mary) Humble of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.
In 1957, Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He went on to build a successful 33-year career in the automotive industry, serving as General Manager for several car dealerships in Ohio and North Carolina. In 1992, he joined the Hendrick Automotive Group as General Manager, and later retired from Lake Norman Chrysler/Plymouth in 2004. Roger thrived on the challenges of the business and cherished the travel opportunities it brought, creating unforgettable memories around the world.
After retiring, Roger and Karen fulfilled a lifelong dream and moved to the beach in Pawleys Island, SC. There, Roger enjoyed part-time work at the local Blockbuster store, becoming a well-known figure in the community, affectionately referred to by many as "Mr. Blockbuster." He was active in a home Bible study group and formed lasting friendships in the Lowcountry.
In 2015, the couple returned to Charlotte, NC to be closer to family.
Roger faced his illness with grace and resilience, rarely complaining despite countless tests and treatments. His faith remained unshakable and provided him a deep sense of peace. He shared his love for the Lord through weekly Monday morning texts filled with encouragement and hope. His greatest wish was for those he loved to know the Lord and experience His joy, peace, and comfort.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, 3700 Forest Lawn Dr., Matthews, NC 28104. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, located across the street from the chapel.
For those unable to attend the service, a live stream link will be posted on this page the morning of the service.
