Roger Dampier Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home on Jan. 4, 2026.
Roger Dale Dampier, a cherished husband, father, pawpaw, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, in Lexington, KY, at the age of 77. Born on September 10, 1948, in Bourbon County, KY, Roger was a man of integrity, warmth, and dedication, whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Roger grew up in the rolling hills of Bourbon County, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors. He was a proud Bourbon County High School graduate, where he formed many friendships that lasted throughout his life. After graduation, Roger honorably served his country in the United States Army, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and commitment that he carried into his civilian life.
Upon returning to civilian life, Roger established himself as a skilled plumber, a trade that he excelled in for many years. His hard work not only provided for his family but also allowed him to form lasting bonds with the community and all of the people he worked with throughout the years. Roger was known for his reliability, his strong work ethic, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Roger's passions extended beyond his work. He was an avid fisherman, finding peace and solace in the quiet moments by the water. His love for sports was undeniable, with a particular fondness for NASCAR, football, and UK sports. Roger's enthusiasm for his teams was contagious, and he enjoyed sharing this with his family and friends, often leading to loud cheering or some other words that probably shouldn't be said. Either way, cherished memories were created in that living room.
Family was the cornerstone of Roger's life. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Linda Dampier, and a loving father to his children, Brian (Heather) Dampier and Amber (Tracey) Martin. Roger's joy was multiplied with the birth of his grandchildren, Sierra and Jaxon Martin, whom he adored and spent every moment he could with them. He imparted his wisdom, stubbornness and kindness to them. He left a lasting impression on them that will never be forgotten. His sister, Freda (Jackie) Livingood, shared many fond memories of him, the little brother who was always causing mischief and always had a stray animal following along behind him. Roger's love for animals continued throughout his life, with many favorite pets, his dog Buffy in particular and his grand-dogs, Sadie, Bella and Kizzy, brought additional joy and companionship to his life.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Lee Dampier and Elsie Stanfield Dampier, his sister Betty Wolfenbarger, his aunt Lida "Auntie" Stanfield Hunt and his uncle Grover Hunt, his cousin Jamie "Scope" Stanfield, and sister in law Phyllis Webster and brother in law Thomas Webster.
His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him. His kindness, stubbornness and love for his family and friends are a legacy that will live on through all of those who remember him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Roger Dale Dampier's story is one of a well-lived and well-loved life, and his memory will be treasured forever.
