Roger Gale Dutton, aged 70, passed away on October 7, 2025, in Live Oak, Texas. He was born on August 16, 1955, in Crosbyton, Texas, to parents Donald Ray Dutton and Elois Louise Cureton Dutton.
Roger loved Jesus, his family and friends, basketball, politics, America, and either side of a good debate. He dedicated much of his life to helping others by educating autistic children and through his involvement with the Special Olympics. He also helped dozens of families with special-needs children through a program he initiated in Andover, Kansas, where he volunteered his time to spend with their special-needs children and/or adults who required constant care. This program allowed family members time for doctors' appointments, errands, or a much-needed date night for parents and caregivers. Roger's various professions and areas of expertise are far too numerous to list. The following are some of his most memorable occupations: lumberjack, tree planter, oil-rig roughneck, "chef extraordinaire," baker, restaurateur, bus driver, and teacher. His hobbies included basketball, the history of basketball, and following all levels and divisions of basketball. Roger was preceded in death by his brother Gene Calvin Cureton; mother, Elois Louise Cureton; father, Donald Ray Dutton; and stepmother, Clara Dutton.
Roger is survived by his brother Dennis Dutton and sister LaDonna Dutton Martin of Clovis, New Mexico, and brother Lew Cureton of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by his nephew Nate Cureton of Universal City, Texas.
Funeral services for Mr. Roger Gale Dutton will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
