Roger Farrell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brigham Funeral Chapel - Edmore on Jan. 6, 2026.
Roger Dale Farrell, 75, of Vestaburg, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Roger was born on October 22, 1950, in Lakeview, Michigan, the beloved son of Robert and Wava Farrell. He grew up in the Six Lakes and Edmore area, where he developed a love for the outdoors. Even before graduating with The Class of 1969 from Montabella High School, Roger had begun his journey in the workforce at Anderson Brothers Farm, where he would spend many hours working even long after his retirement in 2012. After school he went to work as a forklift driver at Motor Wheel in Lansing.

In 1970, Roger was drafted into the Army, proudly serving from May 1970 to December 1971. After his service, he continued to work at Motor Wheel before going to work at Hitachi in Edmore and later at Bandit Industries, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

Roger was a true outdoorsman, with a passion for deer hunting, fishing, shooting skeet, golf, tractor pulling, and go-kart racing. He also cherished playing the game of cribbage and was known for his quick wit and humor, bringing laughter to everyone around him. In 1972, Roger married Rhonda Jensen, and together they built a loving family. He spent many joyful years coaching rocket football for the Montabella Mustangs, sharing his love of the game with young athletes.

Roger will be missed by wife, Rhonda; daughter, Shelby (her husband, Brent) McQueen of Vestaburg; grandson Kaden Peak; granddaughter Kayli (her husband, Sawyer) Bartz; great-grandchildren Vivian and Lyndi Bartz; brother, Randy Farrell of Crystal; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son Mark Farrell, a brother Robert Farrell, and a sister Patty Ashbaugh.

A memorial service in Roger's honor will begin at 12:00 PM on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Edmore. Family will greet and welcome friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
