Roger Peter Gorte

Roger Peter Gorte, of Kalkaska, Michigan, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 5th, 2024, he was 81 years old.
Roger was born April 22, 1943, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Peter and Agnes Gorte.
Roger made his living being a truck driver, which took him all over the country, providing him with the opportunity to see many different places. He also enjoyed being a volunteer firefighter for the Whitmore Lake Fire Department.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, being outdoors, and was an avid fan of University of Michigan Football.
Roger is survived by his Daughter Tammy Odette; 3 grandchildren Holly (Tyler) Turnbull, Jacob Odette, and Heather Odette; along with 3 great-grandchildren, Mason and Abigail Turnbull, and Oaklynn Saliba all of Katy, Texas; Nephews Randal Weidman of Northville, MI, Rick (Cathy) Weidman of Napoleon, MI; Nieces Patricia Weidman and Sandi Clement of South Lyon, MI; and his Brother-in-law Alvin Weidman of Northville, MI; along with many great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Agnes Gorte; his sister Sally (Alvin) Weidman; and his great nephew Randal Weidman.
Roger will be cremated, and a small intimate gathering will take place among family and friends where he resided.
He touched the hearts of many and will be missed by all of us.
The family would also like to take this time to thank his many friends and neighbors who adored him and always checked in on him.
