Roger (Jake) Jacobs, age 74, of Conneaut Lake, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Roger was born on April 25, 1950, the son of the late William and Wanda Jacobs and son-in-law of Mary Ruth and the late Joseph Pete Haid. He married Jo Ann Haid on September 4, 1988, she survives.
He was a truly exceptional man, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend to so many. His impact on our lives is immeasurable, and the void he leaves behind will be deeply felt.
Roger spent much of his life as a dedicated truckdriver, a profession that allowed him to explore the beauty of our country. He had visited all 50 states and often shared his adventures with vibrant descriptions and cherished photographs, painting vivid pictures in our minds of the landscapes he’d seen. More than just a job, it was a passion, a journey that reflected his adventurous spirit.
But beyond his travels, Roger’s greatest legacy was the home he built for his family – a testament to his hard work and unwavering dedication. He was a man of incredible kindness, always ready with a helping hand or a kind word. His generosity and love knew no bounds. He was a true friend, always giving more than he received. His humble beginnings on a farm instilled in him a strong work ethic, but it was his love and unwavering support for those around him that truly defined him.
He also had many passions: golfing, which he deeply loved and played often; and his innate ability to fix anything, his "Mr. Fix-It" nature meant that nothing was beyond his capabilities. He loved to tinker, always busy with a project, showcasing his inventiveness and his desire to create. He possessed a zest for life, always eager to embrace new experiences and loved to surprise his family and friends with unexpected visits, often adding a touch of playful mischief with a surprise mask!
In addition to his wife, Jo, he is survived by his children: Roger W. Jacobs Jr., Shawn (Amy) Jacobs, Danielle (David) Price, Donald (Jillian) Schneider II. Grandchildren: Jessica Jacobs Luft, Tara (Alec) Chavez, Erika Jacobs, Vaughn Jacobs, Jr., Brandon (Caitlin) Jacobs, Bradley (Chastity) Jacobs, Brent Jacobs, Shawn Jacobs, Jr., Patrick Jacobs, Justin Kaitlynn) Jacobs, Jonathan Welsh, Lacey Price, and Jaxson Schneider. Twelve great grandchildren. Two brothers: Larry (Mary Alice) Carpenter and Mark (Karen) Jacobs and a sister Barbara (Tim) Rodgers.
