ROGER R. KOSTICK, age 81, of Thorp, WI passed away, at his home, on Friday, October 25, 2024, following a difficult journey with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia. He will be cremated and no services will be held in accordance with his wishes.
Roger Robert Kostick was born on October 9, 1943, on the home farm north of Thorp, in the Town of Withee, to John and Helen (Skwierczynski) Kostick. He was raised on that family farm and was educated at area schools. He worked at the Blue Moon Cheese Factory in Thorp for over 30 years. After retiring from the cheese factory, he worked for Fred Turenne doing handyman work.
On September 9, 1967, he was united in marriage to Shirley A. Duda at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin, WI and together they raised four children: Jodie, Tara, Travis, and Alexis.
Roger was an avid sportsman and was a member of the Roosevelt Rod and Gun Club. He hunted white tail deer in Wisconsin, mule deer in Wyoming, and elk in Colorado. Roger also enjoyed fishing for all kinds of fish, especially with his family, usually getting in little fishing himself, as he was always either baiting their lines or taking catches off the hook for them. He added to the family coffers every fall, trapping muskrat, mink, and coon. After purchasing land along the Black River in the Town of Maplehurst, he could be found making firewood, maple syrup, and enjoying just being on the land making improvements. Rog was an affable gent, easy to get along with, and he enjoyed many special friendships.
Roger is survived by Shirley, his wife of 57 years; their four children: Jodie (Brent) Mallo, Tara (Jason) Cox, Travis (Rachel) Kostick, and Alexis (Dayton) Wriedt; seven grandchildren: Robyn, Bradly, Sequoia, Chloe, Evan, Elsie, and Sawyer; five great-grandchildren: Trenton, Kallie, Ariana, Aubrey, and Kinslee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant grandsons: Onyx and Odin; one sister: Alice "Shirley" Hempelman, and his brother-in-law: Tom Hempelman.

Roger will never be forgotten and can never be replaced. A lifetime of memories from catfishing on the island, making firewood, cowboy beans in Wyoming and especially the years of deer hunting. My kids have adored reliving the stories . His proudest moment was when hot shot the 16 point buck in the swamp. As he always talked with his hands, I threatened to ties his hands up to keep him quiet . He was a man I will always endear !!! Ray and family
