John Kostick, 87, of Bay City, our resilient, steadfast, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 surrounded by family. John was born on August 6, 1937, in Saginaw, the oldest son of the late John James Sr. and Clara (Jozwiak) Kostick.
John worked at U.S. Graphite in Saginaw as an inspector for 44 years until his retirement in 2000. He loved to fish, bowl, play blooperball, garden, spend time with his family, and watch sports-especially the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Tigers.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Patricia "Patsy" (Bujarski) Kostick; his children, Mark Kostick, Lori (Bill) Ware, Mike (Carol) Kostick, and Andrea (Rob) Liss; grandchildren, Tara Kostick, Courtney Kostick, Ryan Kostick, Austin Kostick, Stephanie (Paul) Carmona, Jimmy (Karissa) Woodrow, Sara (Ryan) Lyden, Jerad (Megan) Ware, Aaron (Katie) Ware, Kylie Wojciechowski (Jon) Julian, and Jake Wojciechowski; and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Anna, and Landon Ware and Noah and Lena Ware. He will also be remembered by his sisters, Jacqueline O'Dell, Sandy (Petro) Ahejew, Marsha (James) Johnroe; brother Thomas Kostick; sister-in-law, Linda Kostick; and many nieces, nephews, and neighbors. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers George Kostick and Harold Kostick; sisters-in-law, Marcia Kostick and Marie (Bill) Belger; brothers-in-law, Thomas O'Dell, Robert Norman "Bunny" Bujarski, Leonard "Herman" (Geraldine) Bujarski, and Eugene (Florence) Bujarski; and step-grandson, James Liss.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Covenant VNA Hospice and Bay Shores Senior Care & Rehab Center for the compassionate care provided to John, especially Jimmy, Mel, and Sterling.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, St. Stanislaus Church, 1503 Koscuiszko Avenue, Bay City, Michigan 48708 with the funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Father Dale Orlik will officiate. A burial to follow will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of Patricia Kostick.
