Roger’s life began on February 7, 1948, in Herington. He was the son of Paul F. and Hildegarde E. (Tiede) Krause. Roger was a 1966 graduate of Herington High School where he excelled as an athlete. He attended Brown Mackie College and graduated in 1988. Roger began his career as a postal carrier in Herington and later served as postmaster in Lincolnville, and Concordia until he retired in 2011. Roger was a well-known and well-respected referee in the area. He officiated softball, volleyball, basketball and football for many years. Roger was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and more recently Trinity Lutheran in Salina. He narrated many local cantatas. Roger served his country in the United State Navy from December of 1967 until his honorable discharge in August of 1972. Roger is survived by his children Matthew (Haddie) Krause of Claflin, Karen Jo ( Jed) Kocher of Nickerson and Bobby ( Carrie) Krause of Windom; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Roger passed away on March 4, 2025, at Reflections Retirement Resort in Salina. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul J. Krause Jr. and Donna M. Krause. His family will gather with friends on Friday March 14, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington. His funeral service will be held on Saturday March 15, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.
