Roger LeRoy Linner, age 61, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at his home in Beaver City, NE. Roger was born on November 15, 1963, in Norton, Kansas. He was the twelfth child born to Harold and Annabelle (Maret) Linner of Beaver City, Nebraska.
Roger grew up and graduated from Beaver City High School with the Class of 1982. He worked for Powell Service, then became employed at New Age Industrial Corporation, Inc. in 1985, where he has worked in the shipping department for 39 years.
In his younger years, Roger raised cattle and worked on the farm with Larry Griffin. He loved the cows and helping all of his “ranching buddies” in Almena. Roger enjoyed watching all Nebraska Cornhusker sports. Another passion he had was building and driving demolition derby cars/trucks. When he retired from driving, he then helped his son and soon-to-be son-in-law continue participating in demo derbies. He had a very big love for his grandkids and supported them in every way possible. He also enjoyed attending the horse races and hitting a couple of casinos every now and then. Roger was full of life and always ready to party.
Roger married Penny VanMatre and to this union Tyler and Danielle were born. They later divorced, then Roger met Kim. Roger and Kim Courtain were married December 31, 1995, to this union Kim brought Jeremey Courtain (JJ) and soon after they became foster parents. They adopted 4 children – Turner, HalLee, Thunder and Ehme.
Survivors include his children Tyler (Becka) Linner, Beaver City, Nebraska, Danielle Linner, Kearney, Nebraska, Turner Linner, Goodland, Kansas, HalLee Linner and fiance Cyrus Thomas and soon to be granddaughter, Beaver City, Nebraska and Ehme Linner, Beaver City, Nebraska; grandchildren, Tyson, Tucker and Brylee Linner, Beaver City, NE; Dekclyn Otte, Kearney, NE; Jesse (Kayla) Courtain, Richlands, NC and Macie Courtain, Phillipsburg, KS; brothers, Ron (Mary) Linner, Bird City, KS, Doug (Missy) Linner, Beaver City, NE, Jim (Heidi) Linner, Norton, KS, Alvin Linner, Beaver City, NE, Junior (Don) Linner, Beaver City, NE, and Randy (Cindy) Linner, Norton, KS; sisters, Shirley (Ervin) Volgamore, Beaver City, NE, Margie (Earl) Denio, Stratton, NE, Denise Rakes, Cambridge, NE and Bev (Butch) Hilker, Arapahoe, NE, brother-in-law Larry Tams, Alma, NE, sister-in-law Patty (Jim) Kauten and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kim, sons Jeremey Courtain and Thunder Linner, sister Kathleen Tams, brother-in-laws Lynn Rakes and Gilbert Courtain II.
Celebration of Life services will be held Monday March 31, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Norton Christian Church in Norton, Kansas with inurnment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Almena, Kansas. There is no viewing or visitation. Garey Funeral Home is in charge arrangements.
