Roger Marks, Jr., age 80, of Marshall, Minnesota, died peacefully under the care of hospice and surrounded by his three sons on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at his home. Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023, at First Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. The evening will conclude with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. followed by a time to share memories. Visitation will then continue one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, Roger requested memorials be directed to the First Lutheran Youth, care of First Lutheran Church in Marshall.

Roger William Marks Jr. was born on December 30, 1942, to Roger Sr. and Margaret (Hansvick) Marks in Marshall, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm east of Marshall and was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Church, Clifton Township. He attended school in Marshall, graduating with the Marshall High School class of 1960.
On October 24, 1964, Roger was united in marriage to Carolyn Jean Wilson and the couple made their home on a farm east of Marshall for about 20 years, where he was an incredible farmer and cattleman. In the mid-1980s the couple moved into Marshall. Roger spent about 35 years working for Ag Plus Cooperative. Roger and Carolyn shared 54 wonderful years of marriage together and they had 3 sons.
Roger was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church. His enjoyments in life included mowing the lawn, feeding the birds and squirrels, grilling, and especially loved the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchild. Roger was known for his kindness and generosity; he could always be counted on for a friendly wave from his chair to those who walked by his big picture window.
Roger Marks died on May 24, 2023, in Marshall, Minnesota. He has reached the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 24 days. Blessed be his memory. The family of Roger Marks Jr wishes to thank you for your sympathy and support.
Roger is survived by his sons, Roger III (and Chris) Marks of Bismarck, ND; Brad (and Amy) Marks of Marshall; Mike (and Alexia) Marks of Boulder, CO; 7 grandchildren, Dani (and Dylan) Helbling, Roger IV “William” (and Masha) Marks, Savannah Marks, Dominik Caspers, Callie Marks, Colbie Marks, Cassidy Marks; great-grandchild, Kacey Helbling; siblings, Helen Hunt of Mesa, AZ, Kaye (and Charles) Hollitt of Flushing, MI, Wes (and Marlys) Marks of Richfield, Elaine Dohman of Escondido, CA, Richard Marks of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Roger Sr. and Margaret Marks; and his loving wife, Carolyn.
