Roger Wayne Moody, age 87, died peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, April 13th, 2025.
Roger was born December 9, 1937, in Longview, Texas, to Richard & Lorene (Arnold) Moody. He married Shirley J. Moody in Perry, Oklahoma in 1957, with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage prior to Shirley's death. They raised two sons, Rocky and Scott, in Midwest City, OK.
Roger graduated from Central State University with a degree in Mathematics. After working for Haliburton before and during college, he was employed by the federal Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis, Missouri. Roger and his family moved to Midwest City, OK, where he began a career with the Department of Defense spanning several decades. Roger was a Management Analyst in the Tinker Air Force Base Directorate of Distribution before moving under Technology & Industrial Support after a reorganization. After retirement, his love for bow hunting and fishing led him to many archery competitions, including the Senior State Games and Senior Olympics. He and Shirley made several friends during their travels to archery competitions out-of-state. He enjoyed OU sports and was a 50+ year season ticket holder of OU football tickets. In his younger days, he raced street cars on various drag strips in the OKC Metro area.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; son, Rocky Moody; parents, Richard Moody and Lorene Moody Foster; and brother, Allan Moody. He is survived by son Scott Moody (Kim), granddaughter Taylor Voss (Austin), grandson Michael Moody (Alex), and great-granddaughters Remi Voss and Isla Voss. He is also survived by sister, Treva Lively, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Roger requested no public services be held. The family has chosen Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) for memorial donations in Roger's name due to their ongoing local research in Dementia & Alzheimer's Disease, as well as cancer, which affected Roger, Shirley, and their son Rocky. Memorial gifts honoring Roger Moody can be made online at OMRF.org or OMRF, Attn: Philanthropy Office, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
