Roger R. Nelson, 84, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, with his loving family by his side. He was born to the late Vernon and Lorraine (Smeester) Nelson on January 2, 1940. Roger graduated from Pulaski High School and was attending school to become a Lutheran pastor until he met the love of his life, Lois Peterman. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage, adopted a beautiful daughter in 1973, and were grandparents to three adored grandchildren.
For 18 years, Roger worked for Pauly Cheese until they closed their doors. He then went back to technical school and worked as a machinist until he retired in 2002. Following retirement, he enjoyed a combination of babysitting his grandson and loved spending time at their summer getaway at Pickerel Lake for the last 50 years. He looked forward to fishing, spending time with his friends and family, especially on the pontoon, sharing an ice-cold Busch Latte.
Roger is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Kelly (Brent) Heezen; grandchildren, Nathan (special friend, Sophie), Emily (special friend, Austin), and Kadence; and brother, Roy (Susen) Nelson. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and many more family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gerald and Julian.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM with a service to follow at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane.
Family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Grancare Nursing Center as well as Sam at Unity Hospice, for all the compassionate care Roger received.
