Roger Dale Reinhart of Bend, Oregon passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025 at Hospice House in Bend. He was 89. A memorial service for Roger will be held on August 8, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Partners in Care, 2611 NE Courtney Dr., Bend, OR. Reception following.
Roger was born June 26, 1935 in Rochester, Minnesota to Lee and Gladys Reinhart, the youngest of nine children. His family moved to Oregon when he was an infant. He attended Bend High School, where he met Eloyce (Ellie) Roy. They were married on December 31, 1952. They had three children.
Roger served on active duty in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed in San Diego. Rough seas were not his favorite, but travel to foreign ports including Japan and Taiwan were. He brought back lots of stories.
Roger returned to Bend after military service. He worked for several local employers before becoming a career mail carrier for the US Post Office. As a young man he learned to hunt, fish, hike and camp with his dad and siblings, as well as friends. All lifelong loves, with fishing the favorite. He loved to square dance, play cards and board games, watch sports, and go to plays and concerts. He ran his motorboat for hours for his kids and grandkids tubing and water skiing. He spent lots of time with his extended family and helping his parents. They were very important to him. He was a member of the First Christian Church for many years. He owned and loved many dogs throughout his lifetime. Most were labs he used for hunting, but in later years his wife bought a pug (Sadie) that he became attached to, and he adopted a spaniel mix (Jack) from the Human Society that is still with us today.
He loved to travel! In Oregon and across the US. He made several trips to Alaska and Hawaii, to the Midwest, East Coast, and the South. He also went to Canada and Mexico, England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Lots of fun time with Ellie, his kids and extended family.
He is survived by his daughter Laurie (Paul) Warner of Salem, OR; sons Dale Reinhart of Springfield, OR and Joseph (KC) of Lake Oswego, OR. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who he had special bonds with, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and his siblings and parents.
He loved life and would want us to live with joy and peace each day. When you think of him remember that wish. We love and will miss him.
The family wishes to thank Partners In Care staff and Dr. Massini for their loving care. Memorial contributions in Roger's memory may be made to Partners in Care Hospice House.
