Roger Dale Richardson Sr., age 77, of Nashville, TN, passed away on September 22, 2025 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.
Roger was born on September 1st, 1948, in Nashville to Eva and Dennis Richardson. He grew up in Nashville on Old Route 5, now called Linton Lane and lived in his grandmothers house for the past couple of years, just down the road from his childhood home where he was born and raised.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Peggy Joyce (Odie) Foxall; and nephew, Ray Foxall.
Roger is survived by his children, Roger Dale Jr., April Desiree’ (Alex) Bohan, Joab Wesley (Stephanie) Richardson, and Brandon (Dianna) Richardson; step-son, Stephen (Kara) Dyer; grandchildren, Meagan, Jordan, Christopher, Emmie, December, and Leo; great-grandbabies, Wyatt, Ryon, Jaxson, and Jameson; brother, Johnny Richardson; nieces and nephews, Janet, Craig, Mittnee, and Ricky.
Roger worked at Garrison Service Company, and after that, the Bailey/Bridgestone for over 25 years. He was known for always being willing to help a friend in need, unmatched cooking/grilling skills, and a slight temper.
Roger loved his faithful companion, Libby, and sitting on the porch with her watching the cars (and squirrels…) go by. They both enjoyed watching the neighbors walk up and down the street so much, whom they both grew to know and love and became friends with. This was a favorite pastime of theirs until Roger was unable to care for her anymore.
Roger also loved canoeing, camping, hunting and fishing, especially in his younger years. He loved Nascar (specifically, the Earnhardt Era) and had a passion for Miller Lite and making some homemade wines! He greatly enjoyed barbecuing or smoking some kind of animal on his converted Kelvinator fridge, which he made into a smoker. He loved motorcycles, involvement with the Patriot Guard, and tinkering with old cars and trucks with his children and brother. He liked to make things out of wood and metal, designing, fabricating, and welding whatever popped up in his head. Repairing neighbors’ lawnmowers, trailers, or helping however he could. You could find him talking on the CB or just sitting by a fire with his friends enjoying a couple of beers. He especially enjoyed gardening, drawing, painting, and playing the banjo.
A funeral service will be held on September 30th, 2025, at 1:30pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service, as well as the evening before, September 29th, 2025, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Friends and family are welcome to attend and honor Roger’s memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
