Mr. Roger Sanders passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at his residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 75 years. He was born May 28, 1949, in Osceola, Arkansas, to John Sanders and Adline Allans.
Roger was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. He was a graduate of Osceola Arkansas High School, Class of 1969. He later earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. In Saginaw, Roger was employed as a supervisor at Merrill Park Community Center; other employment included the Neighborhood House, Trinity St. John Community Center, and Civitan Recreation Center. Roger liked showing leadership and mentoring youth; he set a positive example for youth and the community. Roger was a member of New Life Baptist Ministries where he served faithfully as a Deacon until his health failed. He enjoyed going to the YMCA, casino, barbecuing, and frying fish with his longtime friend, "Mr. Artie." Watching Sunday football and Western movies were among his favorite things to do. Roger will be greatly missed.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Bloneva Sanders; two daughters, Wendy and Tekema Carmichael; two sons, Karlos Carmichael and Marcellus Sanders; grandchildren, Billy Buriel, Maurice Harris Jr., Journey Carmichael, Courtney Meadows, and Marshay Harris; great-grandson, Grey Williams; one brother, Andre' Sanders; two special nieces, Joyce and Lilly O'Neal; nephews, Santana Dottery, Calvin O’Neal, Derris O’Neal and Amos O'Neal; special cousin, Betty "Lady" Sanders; sisters-in-law, Louise Richmond and Jewel Moore; brothers-in-law, Pastor Johnny (Marie) Moore, Bryant Moore, Malvin Allen and Norman Jamerson; many other special relatives and friends including Jermaine Sanders, Artie Short, Jerry Blakley, Joel Kelly, Charles Chambers, and Dorthy Bowman.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Adline Allans and John Sanders; grandparents, Nathen and Florence Sanders; daughter, Karla Carmichael; brother, Louis Sanders; sister, Earslean O'Neal; brothers-in-law, Frank and Melvin; sister-in-law, Evonne Callicott; his favorite uncle, B.B. Sanders; and uncle, Lee Sanders.
