SHADBURN, Capt. (Ret.) Roger Lee

Retired Airforce Captain Roger Lee Shadburn, age 89 of Thomson, GA (formerly of Buford, GA), passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025. He was predeceased by his wife of 28 years, Jeannie Shadburn; parents, J.C. Shadburn, Pearl Tuggle Shadburn; and sister, Jewel Shadburn Rich. Roger is survived by sons, Roger Lee Shadburn (Michelle), Neal Harvey Shadburn (Melissa); his grandchildren, Neal Shadburn, Roger Lee "Tripp" Shadburn, III; and his sister, Anne Barnes. Roger was born on March 4, 1936, in Buford, GA, and later graduated from Buford High School in 1954. Roger went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree. Roger would go on to spend many years in the insurance profession and over twenty years with the U.S. Air Force. Roger loved his Georgia Bulldogs, and watching his sons play their youth and college sports. He was a simple man who preferred living in a small town like the one he grew up in. Working in his vegetable garden and watching the sunset at the beach in Edisto, SC were some of his favorite pastimes. He was very proud of his grandsons and the young men they became. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens 5979 New Bethany Road Buford, GA.
