Roger Thieme passed as he lived, surrounded by love.
Born in Union, NJ to Harry Thieme and Jean McClure he grew up with his brother Rick and sister Trudy (predeceased) loving the outdoors and sports. In 59' he joined the Army and was trained as a paratrooper. After his service he began a career in construction where he would go on to be known as "the legend". Rog could and would build and tend to anything with craftsman's precision - rooms, decks, his cherished Princeton St. lawn. But his greatest pride and joy, his most lasting build, was his gorgeous, gregarious family.
After losing his first wife Sandy to cancer, Rog managed to raise two girls and open the door to new love. He would woo Patricia Duffy with his good looks and kind heart (the frosty from Wendy's didn't hurt). Rog married Pat in 87' and opened his heart and home to her son Sean. Their combined families became half a Brady! Both girls had Jersey hair and the youngest one (Sean), in curls. Throughout the years Rog was an example, a gentleman, a father and a friend. A more kind soul you would be hard pressed to find. He lived with untarnished integrity and unwavering strength. He loved locally-lunch spots, dinners and day trips with friends, Pennsy camp get-aways and traveled well and wide with his dear Pat to Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Egypt, Alaska, and more. While he lived quietly, he left a huge mark.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, of nearly 40 years, who he loved dearly. He also leaves his heart and love behind in his girls Kelly and Tammy, his lucky son Sean, his grandsons Tyler (Gianna), Roger, their father Randy, Naeem and his first great grandson Parker. His family circle stretches even wider with his nieces and nephews and their children who all will remember the great Uncle Roger who was quick to welcome at holidays and always warm of heart. We are better humans for his guidance and the generous love he extended to all. We will carry his strength and kindness with us every day.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10am at Nativity of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, 185 Applegarth Road, Monroe Township, NJ. Interment will immediately follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover Township, NJ.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 5pm until 8pm at A.S. Cole Son & Co., 22 North Main Street, Cranbury, NJ.
In lieu of flowers the family requests daily acts of kindness to be made in Rog's image and/or donations made to Soldiers to Sidelines by visiting Soldierstosidelines.org/donate.
