ROLAND GLENN ALLEN, SR., age 94, was born to Henry Harrison Allen and Beulah Hazel Allen on January 15, 1931 in Princeton, Illinois. Having completed his earthly journey, Roland went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Allen, his parents Henry and Buelah Allen, brothers Richard Allen and twin brother Robert Allen. Also, proceeding him in death were his sisters- in-law Maxine Allen and Mary Allen as well as his niece Donna Joy Allen and nephew Robert Glenn Allen. Other family members include sisters-in-law: Mary Alice Jenkins Shuman, Norma Jenkins Beall, and Donna Jenkins Roberts. Brothers-in-law Thomas Jenkins, Carl Jenkins, Roy Jenkins, Ernie Jenkins, Robert Jenkins.
He is survived by his son, Roland Glenn Allen, Jr., daughters Sharon Allen, Hazel Allen and Dorothy Allen Spain and son-in-law, Stephen Spain. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Jessica Spain, Stacey Spain Hanel, Danielle Allen, grand son-in-law Daniel Hanel and great grandchildren, Tyler and Madelyn Hanel. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara Jenkins Thomas and Charlotte Jenkins. Brothers and sisters-in-laws: James and Dolly Jenkins, Betty Jenkins, Shirley Jenkins, Joseph Roberts, Earl and Cindy Jenkins and many, many nieces and nephews.
In 1949, Roland graduated from La Moille High School, LaMoille, Illionis where he excelled in track, FFA and theater. He held the one-mile record in track for 60 years! Roland went on to Moody Bible Institute where he graduated in 1952.After being ordained into Christian ministry in April, 1953, Roland moved to Ohio from Ohio, Illinois to pastor a church in Muskingum County. It was there where he met Frances Marie Jenkins and they married in January, 1956. Roland knew Jesus as his personal Savior and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Columbus, OH.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Southside Baptist Church located at 1621 S. High St. Columbus, OH. The funeral service will take place after visitation and will be officiated by Pastor Bill Henderson. Internment will immediately follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Ave. Columbus, OH. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Luminary Hospice, Southside Baptist Church and to Cook & Son-Pallay Funeral Home for their love and support. Memorial contributions can be made to one of the following: Southside Baptist Church, and the Alzheimer's Association.
