Mike Burleson, age 79, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 8th, 2025, leaving behind enough books and magazines to start a small to medium-sized library and enough construction materials in his garage that would turn any contractor green with envy.
Mike is survived by his wife, Debby Burleson, his sons, Todd and Evan, grandchildren, Aubrey Burleson, Clay Burleson, Drew and Ben Burleson. He was preceded in death by his grandson Charlie who passed away 8 days earlier.
He enjoyed many, many things. Among those things were baseball, football, coaching, watching the kids play basketball, did we mention sports? He also enjoyed activities such as salmon fishing, reading, watching real crime shows, browsing hardware stores and thrift shops, visiting the old Schottenstein store, and engaging in conversations with people about absolutely anything.
If something needed fixing, he always knew “someguy” or gave it a try himself.
He retired from the Ironworkers Local 172 after 30 years of service. He finished his career there as an instructor, training young apprentices and molding them into fine journeyman Ironworkers, who helped shape the skyline of Columbus.
Mike didn’t give a damn about new-fangled technology and the internet. He resisted owning a personal cell phone for the longest time, and he had zero working knowledge of the Kardashians.
