Ron Rhodes, 81, of Parsons, Kansas passed away at 3:25 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2024, surrounded by loving family, at his home.
He was born William Ronald Rhodes on March 18, 1943, in Roane County, West Virginia, one of twelve children born to Lonnie Burton Rhodes and Orlie Mae (Cox) Rhodes. His early years were spent in that area and in his late teen years he moved to Niles, Michigan, where he graduated from high school.
Ron lived in Niles until moving to Parsons in January of 1984 to work at Parsons Precision Products. He continued that employment until he retired in 2013.
He grew up as a Baptist. His many hobbies included woodworking, renovating houses, gardening and landscaping, hunting and fishing and participating in arts and crafts shows.
On February 9, 1975 he and Cathryn L. "Cathy" Jones were married at Buchanan, Michigan. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2016. He and Janice M. "Jan" Strait were married at his home on March 31, 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Jan, of the home; children, William Ronald Rhodes, Jr (Sally) of Ludington, Michigan, Melody L. Yeomans of Cadillac, Michigan, Tina L. Chaney of Pittsburg, Kansas and Ryan Rhodes (Tracy) of Parsons; step-children, Morgan M. Strait of Joplin, Missouri and Eric Strait (Katie) of Parsons; eight grandchildren, Jodie, Matthew, Ashton, Cayler, Benjamin, Kolten, Jameson and Owen; several great-grandchildren; brother, James Roger Rhodes of Niles, Michigan and sisters Garnet Kee of Dunbar, West Virginia and Lula Belle Delay of Parkersburg, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, with the funeral service starting at 3 p.m., at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Pastor Keith Jones officiating.
There will be a visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, October 21st at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Following the visitation a procession will be leaving the fuenral home for a graveside service at the Hunt Cemetery in Roane County
. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
