Ronald Paul "Boo" Ambrose, age 75, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Center on Aging. A native of Unicoi County, Boo grew up in the Fishery community and was the son of the late J.K. and Bertie (Shelton) Ambrose. Boo was a proud Marine who served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. After returning home, he began work at Nuclear Fuel Services, where he dedicated 33 years before retiring early to enjoy his later years on the golf course. A familiar face around town, Boo was known for his smile and kind words. He cherished countless friendships and the wonderful memories he made throughout his life. Boo loved being active, spending his time playing softball, fishing, riding motorcycles, and going to the gym. He was a member of the Elks Club and spent time volunteering in support of his fellow veterans. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Harold Rice.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters, Rebecca Conway (Jason) of Kingston, TN, and Bethany Ambrose of Erwin, TN; two granddaughters, of whom he was very proud, Ava Conway and Emery Conway of Kingston, TN; his sister Margaret Rice of Erwin, TN; his sister Christine Knight (Bobby) of Erwin, TN; his brother Michael Ambrose (Becky) of Knoxville, TN; two nephews; a niece; and his caretaker and companion, Brenda Gaither.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Center on Aging, Becky Allen, and Amedisys Hospice for their support and compassionate care. A very special thank you goes to the mother of his children, Lisa Hughes, for the love and care she has shown him during his extended illness.
A private family committal service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name can be made to Mission 22 in support of veterans, https://mission22.com
