Ron enlisted in the Army in November 1956. He served in the 3rd Armored Division in Gelnhausen, Germany, as a battalion legal clerk, and reached the rank of Specialist 5 (E5). He was honorably discharged in November 1958 and received a Certificate of Achievement from the division's commanding general.
He married Catherine "Kay" Morgan at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Spencerport, NY, on Oct. 8, 1960. He was baptized a Roman Catholic in June 1963.
Ron's career involved newspaper circulation. He was employed by Gannett Co. They were consultants to newspapers all over the world in circulation matters, published two monthly newsletters and created training materials. In 1997, the company was split into RCAnderson, which continued producing printed materials, and Anderson, Randles & Associates, which concentrated on consulting, seminars and on-site training. In 1982, he received the ICMA/Editor & Publisher Distinguished Service Award.
Ron and Kay raised six children at their home on Rosewood Drive, Pittsford, which they bought in 1969. Kay died Feb. 5, 2010, and Ron moved to a townhouse in Pittsford in 2013. After Kay's death, Ron reconnected with classmate Joilee "Joy" (Collins) Mulhern. Joy was his close companion until her death May 10, 2020. Ron was the caregiver for Kay and Joy at the end of their lives.
He served on the boards of Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women; Becket Hall pre-seminary program for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester; Catholic Courier newspaper; Mercy Bridges, the literacy ministry of the Sisters of Mercy; Flower City Jazz Society; and Pittsford Parks and Recreation. My parents were to meet your dad in Naples NY for lunch yesterday! They went, and returned home telling me this. I had an odd feeling about it, so decided to search the internet only to find his obituary. We are all sending you our sincere sympathy at this time!

I am just shocked to learn of Ron's passing. He meant so much to me and my career and I bought his company Circulation Idea Service when he retired but continue to advise and help me along the way. I hope the family will reach out to me as I would love to share a few memories and tell you just what he meant to me. [email protected] 256.710.3390

It is so, so difficult to lose a sibling, a person who has one of the few windows into your childhood. I am so sorry.
I find solace and truth in this quote from someone deeply affected by 9/11, "Time doesn´t heal; it doesn´t fix things. Time makes the trauma less sharp. It softens the edges."
Love,
Stephanie

So sorry for your loss. We at the Pittsford Senior exercise class will miss him so very much. Ron was definitely the most interesting, knowledgeable and for sure, the most active member of the class, always pulling out his black notebook to see where he was heading next. We all loved Ron and he will never be forgotten.
