Ronald S. Beam of Florence, SC and a native and former resident of Cherryville, NC passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Presbyterian Home in Florence, SC. Ron was born July 17, 1934, in Cherryville, the son of the late James Webb and Eva Julia Beam.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Frankie Helms Beam; and his siblings, Joyce Beam, James Robert Beam, and Jane Beam Helms.

 

He is survived by his three children, Rhonda Beam Avant (John) of Florence, SC, Julia Beam Sander (Charlie) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and David Brently Beam (Sharon) of New Smyrna Beach, FL; grandchildren, Christie Sander Yantis (Steve), John Brandon Avant (Casey), Meredith Ann Sander, James Heath Beam (Fotini), and Ronald Brooks Avant; great grandchildren, Riley Julia Davies, Charlotte Ann Davies, Bailey Grace Avant, Dylan Mackenize Avant, and Jamison George Sander; and numerous nephews and nieces.

 

Ron was a faithful member of Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church of Florence, SC and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Cherryville, NC for most of his life. Ron retired from Carolina Freight Carriers Corp. of Cherryville after over 35 years working as a truck driver. During his almost 30 years of retirement, he spent much of his time playing golf and actually made two holes in one in a single month a few years before having to give up the game. He loved Frankie, his family, golf, animals, the Dallas Cowboys, his friends, and telling stories.

 

A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, February 9, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter Porter Funeral Home.
