Ronald Benjamin Briggs passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Born on August 17, 1935, in Flint, Michigan, to Gordon and Alberta (Stoutenburg) Briggs, Ron lived a life marked by devotion, service, and a deep love for family and community.
A proud veteran, Ron served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957, demonstrating his commitment to his country. Following his service, he pursued higher education at Eastern Michigan University, earning his degree in 1959. His career led him to the respected CPA firm Doeren Mayhew in Troy, Michigan, where he started in 1960. His dedication and expertise elevated him to the role of Managing Director and President, a position he held for thirteen years before retiring in 1997. He found joy in his work and valued the relationships he built with business clients and community organizations throughout his career.
Ron was the beloved and devoted husband of the late Shirley Joyce DeLong for over 59 years. Their love and partnership formed the foundation of a family that brought him immense happiness. He was the loving father of Ronda (Howard) Klausmeier, Richard (Tina) Briggs, and Susan (Thomas) Swerc; cherished grandfather of Justin (Stephanie), Joe (Emily), Josh, Ryan, Samantha, Emily, Jacob, Allison, Benjamin and the late Kelsey; great-grandfather of Jack, Sadie, Jonah and Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon (Jerry), and sister, Carol (Eberhardt).
Beyond his professional life, Ron found fulfillment in the simple joys-spending time with Shirley and his family, enjoying rounds of golf with friends, and retreating to the Lake Huron summer cottages in Harrisville. He treasured the serenity and companionship those moments brought.
Family will receive friends, Monday, May 12, 2025, 3-8pm at A. J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, (btwn Maple & Big Beaver), Troy. 248-362-2500. Funeral Service Tuesday, May 13, 2025, 11am, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 5631 N. Adams Rd., Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304. Visitation at church begins 10am.
