Ronald Burke, 67, of Lubbock, passed away on Sunday morning, November 12, 2023. He was born on August 3, 1956, in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, to the late Virgil Kemp Burke, Jr., and Concepcion (Vasquez) Burke.
He attended Lubbock High School in Lubbock. Ronald met Bobbie Adams, and they were married on January 11, 1984, in Lubbock.
Ronald worked as a transformer repairman for NECO in Lubbock for the last 40 years, of which the last 20 years he was the Supervisor, and he thoroughly enjoyed his job there. His favorite pastime was fishing. He loved to watch football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Notre Dame, and enjoyed working on motors. He and Bobbie loved to travel, especially to casinos. His yard and his truck were two of his pride and joys, as he kept them both immaculate. Saturday nights were special, as he played cards (Five Crowns) with his mother-in-law and other family members. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Bobbie; two daughters: Tiffany Murphy of Lubbock, Sarah Riddle and her husband Brian of Lubbock; one son, Scott Burke of Lubbock; three brothers: Michael Vasquez and his wife Nita of Lubbock, Virgil Burke, III of Houston, John Burke and his wife Diane of Lubbock; four sisters: Diana Olvera of Lubbock, Pattie Dene Lockley of Wolfforth, Linda Doe and her husband Eddie of Lubbock, Brenda Bland and her husband Thaddeus of Colorado Springs, Colorado; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Vasquez; two sisters: Debi McNabb and Cynthia Burke; a brother, Christopher Anthony Burke; and a brother-in-law, Nathan Maynor.
A visitation for Ronald will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Combest Family Funeral Home’s Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6 PM that evening. On Thursday, there will be a visitation from 11 AM to 12 PM at the Venue on Broadway. Mass will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 3111 Erskine Street in Lubbock. Father Rudolf Crasta will be the Celebrant. Final rites and interment will be held in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Pallbearers will be David Adams, Amado Balderas, Dustin Adams, Matthew Cline, Christopher Burke, Ronnie Burke and Tijia Mims.
