DATELINE: SHELBY, NORTH CAROLINA
Ronald "Ron" William Carroll Jr
Ronald William Carroll Jr, 54, of Shelby, NC, entered his eternal rest on March 18, 2025 at his home. Ron was born May 12, 1970 in McMinn County, TN, son of the late Ronald William Carroll Sr. Ron's faith has always been at the center of his life and in 2018 answered the call to become the Senior Pastor at Christian Freedom Church in Kings Mountain. He was very active in the ministry having traveled extensively nationally with Mastery Prison Ministry. His desire to reach all people with the Gospel of Christ was very important to Ron and his family. Before becoming a pastor, Ron was the owner and operator of Kingdom Fitness in Kings Mountain and in Cherryville and worked for many years in sales for Kelsan Inc. Always active, Ron took his fitness very seriously. He excelled as a pitcher at Lenoir Rhyne University, and was an outstanding softball player. There was not a sport Ron did not enjoy and was willing to try just about anything to make his loved ones happy. Golfing, tearing up the dance floor, and spending time on the lake driving the boat were some of his favorite past times. He was a 4th Degree Black Belt in American Freestyle Karate. His insatiable appetite for the gospel led Ron to many hours of mowing his lawn while listening to podcasts about the Word. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle and shepherd to countless people. Ron's contributions to his family and community will never be forgotten. His love and care will live on in the lives and memories of all the people he touched.
