Marie Thigpen Brafford
Marie Thigpen Brafford, 93, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on July 09, 2025 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was born December 11, 1931 in South Carolina, daughter of the late Edward and Effie Brown Thigpen and was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Houston Brafford, a son, Chris Brafford and her siblings, Lucille Baker and Gerald Thigpen. Marie worked for Provident Life Insurance before beginning her career as a special needs teacher. She retired from Ashbrook High School after many years of dedicated service to her students. She formerly attended First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and currently attended 1st Wesleyan Church in Bessemer City. Marie was a people person and enjoyed meeting new people everywhere she went. People were drawn to Marie's memorable personality and everyone she met instantly loved her. She was a wonderful and caring person who will be remembered always for her kindness and caring spirit.
She is survived by her son, John Brafford of Kings Mountain, NC and many other loving family members and friends.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM at 1st Wesleyan Church in Bessemer City, NC. They will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service.
