Ronald William Chumita, 80, of Prudenville passed away on Monday October 14, 2024 at his home.
Ron was born on January 26, 1944 in Lincoln Park, Michigan to William and Julia (Zolock) Chumita. He grew up in the Lincoln Park area where he graduated from Lincoln Park High School. Following graduation Ron served in the Air Force from 1962 through 1964. On October 21, 1967 in East Tawas Ron was married to Marilyn Louise Kendall, who preceded him in death in 1997. Later Ron was married on May 22, 1998 in Southgate to Barbara Ann Staniszewski, who preceded him in death only three weeks ago. Ron worked as a Cable Splicer for AT&T for many years before his retirement. He had moved from Woodhaven to Prudenville 23 years ago. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and especially fishing on Houghton Lake. Ron loved to play pool at the Houghton Lake Senior Center.
Surviving Mr. Chumita are his daughter, Deana Saylor of Taylor; son, Stephen (Mary) Chumita of Lincoln Park; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many friends around the Prudenville area, including his neighbor and fishing partner, Mark. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn Louise Chumita; wife, Barbara Ann Chumita; and sister, Eleanor Farmer.
Memorial Services for Mr. Ronald Chumita will be held at a later date in Lincoln Park. Interment will be in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Flat Rock. Memorial contributions in memory of Ron are asked to be directed to Toni and Trish House for terminally ill, at, Toni and Trish House, 4699 11 Mile Rd, Auburn, MI 48611 or toniandtrishhouse.org.
