Ron was born March 21, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Roger and Charlotte Davis. Ron earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Ashland College and a master of education degree from Akron University. On July 22, 1972, he married the love of his life, Dianne Cackowski.
Ron became the first school psychologist in Ottawa County Ohio, and developed the school psychology program for the county. In 1977, Ron began work as a school psychologist with Toledo Public Schools, where he served the needs of students and families from Kindergarten through grade 12. For the majority of his career he worked with families and children of special needs in the Toledo Public Schools pre-school program. He was most passionate of his contribution to this program. In 1996, Ron was recognized by the Ohio Department of Education as the first recipient of the Ohio School Psychologist of the year award. During his time at Toledo Public Schools, he also served as an adjunct professor at Bowling Green State University, University of Findlay and at the University of Toledo. After retiring in 2005 from Toledo Public Schools, Ron was a professor of special education at the University of Toledo for 10 years.
Together, Ron and Dianne shared a passion for travel. Over the years, they shared in numerous cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, New England, and the Pacific Northwest. He loved spending time on the warm sandy beaches of Florida and visiting the historic sights of Colonial Williamsburg annually for 50 years. Ron was active with Genoa Civic Theatre and Oregon Community Theatre. He portrayed Calvin Coolidge and Fred Rogers in events for the Oregon Jerusalem Historical Society. Blessed with many artistic talents, Ron was an accomplished watercolor, acrylic, and oil painter, and spent countless hours maintaining his landscaping and water garden.
Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dianne; son, Brian (Renae Romstadt) Davis; brother, Glenn (Debbie) Davis; sister-in-law, JoAnne Fuciu; brother-in-law, Bob Cackowski; along with nieces, nephews, loving family members and dear friends. Ron was an incredible man. He was humble and never spoke on how many lives he changed. His dedication to school psychology and young people's mental health was a gift. It was an honor to work with him at The University of Toledo. He will be truly missed. The world needs more people like Ron <3. May he be watching the best theatrical productions from above.

Dear Diane and Brian,
My prayers go out to you and your family. I was very lucky to have known Ron in two capacities...One, through Genoa Civic Theater...We had the best time and he was always so much fun in all the shows we put on! Him and Ronnie Tanner were hysterical!
The second one, is professionally...Ron and I both worked in Early Childhood and He would guest speak for me all the time. He was so wonderful...and we would go observe him in his classes at Cherry Preschool! What a remarkable person.
My heart dropped when I heard..I know God has a wonderful place for you! Pamela O'Connell Parsons

One of the most interesting and kind people I have ever met. His talent as an actor set him apart from others yet never made you feel intimidated. He made such an impression on so many that he will truly be missed. Rest in peace Ron.
