A Graveside Service for Ron Eilers, age 78, of Spencer, Nebraska will be at 11:00 am on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the National Cemetery in Spencer. Pastor Grant Graff will officiate. Military Rites will be provided by the Spencer American Legion Whidden Post 78. Ron passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill, Nebraska. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer.
Ronald A. Eilers, son of August and Dorothy (Blum) Eilers, was born on May 4, 1945. He attended Spencer Public School and was part of the 1963 graduating class. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1965. There he served as a missile technician as well as a student training advisor, until he retired in 1987 after 22 years of service.
He was an active member in the community after retirement, serving on the Town Board of Spencer, working as part of the weed board, and driving a school bus for Spencer Public Schools.
He also enjoyed listening and going to baseball games, playing darts and cards, and working in the garage with small engines and tinkering with his many wood projects.
Ron is survived by his ex-wife, Katherine Eilers of Waterbury, NE; his brother, Ernie (Carol) Eilers of Spencer, NE; sister Linda (Don) Conzemius of Hartington, NE; his daughters, Annette (Chad) Feistner of Mankato, MN, Audrey (Michael) Schieuer of Sioux Falls, SD; sons, Ronald (Rachael) Eilers Jr. of Dorena, OR, Louis Eilers of Spencer, NE, and John (Amber) Eilers of Sioux City, IA; along with 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Dorothy; his brother Robert "Bob" Eilers; and his great-grandson, Rodney Garrett Eilers.
