Ronald Anthony Fava, age 86, of Wilmington, Delaware, and formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
Ron was born and raised in Southwick, England. He was the son of the late Mabel (McQuire) and Giuseppe (Joseph) Florio Fava, and brother to the late Peter Fava. Ron received his undergraduate degree in Physics at Oxford University and his master's degree in Physics at The London University. He married Jean T. Fava at his college chapel in Wadham College, Oxford. They started a family and moved to the United States, first to live in Durham, North Carolina, and eventually settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a number of years, followed by moves to Paoli, Pennsylvania, Hockessin, Delaware, and Wilmington, Delaware (Shipley Living).
Ron was a prolific actor in musicals and plays, and a leading cast member in several Gilbert & Sullivan operetta companies, including The Durham Savoyards (Duke University), The Pittsburgh Savoyards, Rose Valley Chorus, Thespis and the Ardensingers. He also sang in the church chorus at Monroeville United Methodists, Hockessin United Methodist Church, and Shipley Living.
Ron was preceded in passing by his wife, Jean, and is survived by his two children, Elizabeth Anne Robideau (Charles) and John D. C. Fava (Mauri), and three grandchildren, Nicholas Fava, Natalie Fava and Mary Robideau.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 from 10am-11am where a memorial service will follow at 11am.
