A virtuous man
Rooted in Christ and reason
Example for all.
When Ron Hasche died on June 28, 2023, he was fully confident that he was going home to Jesus. That strong, simple faith characterized his entire life.
Ron was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, on February 4, 1944 to the late Wilbert and June (Kluenker) Hasche. After graduating from Manitowoc Lutheran High School in 1962, Ron proudly served his country as a catapult operator on the flight deck of the Navy's U.S.S. Intrepid. He was honorably discharged on March 10, 1972, and remained a lifelong patriot and a lover of history and current events. The day after his discharge, Ron married Mary (Hoida) Hasche. They enjoyed a simple life together for 51 years, raising their two children, Dan and Karen, in their Manitowoc home. Until his retirement, Ron worked at the Manitowoc Company where his characteristic loyalty and hard work earned him the nickname "Beaver". Ron enjoyed the simple life and didn't venture too far from home. He insisted that he went around the world three times in the Navy, so he didn't need to go anywhere else. Ron was content puttering around in his back yard, often with a grandson at his side. After all, as he frequently said, "Springhill Drive isn't just an address; it's a way of life." He never sought excitement. Even his traffic record was pretty low-key-he was only pulled over once...for driving too slowly.
Ron loved his Lord. He and Mary were members of Grace Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. He trusted in God as his Mighty Fortress, his trusted shield and weapon, and shared his undying faith with his children and grandchildren. After God, his loving devotion was to his family. He was immensely proud of his four grandchildren who kept him busy attending their numerous events. He also loved his wife's culinary creations: "Every day a holiday, every meal a banquet!" he would say. Ron's signature on cards revealed his heart toward his family: "Love you oodles and bunches and groups".
Ron will be missed and survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; two children, Dan (Erica) Hasche, Homer, Alaska, and Karen (Scott) Baye, Hobart, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Dominic, Cameron, Natalie, and Samantha Baye; and two sisters, Carol (Ron) Kasten of Newton and Joan (Jim) Koldoff of Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2426 North Rapids Road, Manitowoc, with Rev. David Laabs officiating. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. The family will greet relatives and friends at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
Ron's family would like to thank Aurora Hospice for their loving, compassionate care that allowed Ron to stay at home until his final day.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Ron's name.
