Ronald Hess Obituary

Ronald Mitchell Hess, 78, of Kenner, Louisiana, entered the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 12, 2025. His passing leaves a deep ache in the hearts of those who love him, but also a profound peace knowing that he is now fully whole and at home with the Lord he so faithfully served.

Ron was a man of devoted faith and a profound relationship with Jesus Christ. His life was a testimony to the transforming power of grace, and he lived each day with eternity in view. His favorite verse, 2 Corinthians 5:17, captures the hope he held onto and shared with others: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all has become new."

Ron expressed the love of Christ in steadfast and unwavering ways-through encouragement, a willing ear, and a heart for teaching and mentoring. Whether you needed guidance, comfort, or simply someone to be present, Ron offered himself freely. His strength was matched by gentleness, and his wisdom by humility.

Over the course of his life, Ron faithfully served his community and provided for his family through a career with the New Orleans Police Department and later in life insurance sales. But his greatest roles were those of husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, favorite son-in-law, brother-in-law, cousin, and friend. He poured love and godly wisdom into each relationship, leaving a legacy that will continue through generations.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Dennis Smith and Ethel Juanita Cartier Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Timothy Hess; his adoring daughter, Hannah Michelle Hess; his cherished grandson, Joshua Paul Pope, and his beloved sister, Charlotte Sharon Hancock. He is also survived by his treasured mother-in-law, Rosemary Timothy, brother-in-law, Jacob Timothy III, and sister-in-law, Katherine Timothy, along with a host of extended family and dear friends who were blessed by his life and love.

A memorial service honoring Ron's life and faith will be held at The Garden of Memories, 4899 Airline Highway, Metairie, Louisiana, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Visitation will take place from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., with a service beginning at 1:00 P.M., and burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or The Alzheimer's Association, in honor of Ron's life of compassion, faith, and enduring love.

"Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord." - Matthew 25:21
