Ronald Large Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boyd Funeral Home - Marion on Jan. 27, 2026.
Ronald E. Large Sr., age 77, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on January 24, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 5, 1948, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Frank Large and Gladys Johnson Neill, and he lived in Marion for the majority of his life.

Ron shared a lifelong marriage with his wife, Nancy (Dixon) Large, whom he married on August 5, 1967. He is survived by his wife; his children, Tonya Large and Ronald (Jen) Large Jr.; grandchildren, Ryan (Shayla) Cook, Reagan Cook, Bryce Large, and Rylie Large; step-grandchildren, Allyson (Evan) Dort, Michael Gardner, and Wyatt Gardner; great-grandchildren, Kayden and Kalix; and step great-grandchildren, Patrick, Adeline, and Lachlan, with two more great-grandchildren on the way.

He is also survived by his sisters, Jane (Dave) Horn of Ocala, FL, and Terry (Paul) Segner of Broadway, OH, and his brother, Gerald (Becky) Neill of West Mansfield, OH, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron was quite the busybody and could often be found working on or fixing things around the house. A nice summer day with a Natty Light in hand and his family around him was everything he needed. He also enjoyed being the "maintenance man" for all the kids' bikes on the street, and the neighborhood children knew exactly where to come for popsicles during the summer.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Frank Large; mother, Gladys Johnson Neill; stepfather, Lewis Neill; brother, James Large; sister-in-law, Rose Large; and his beloved dog, Scruffy.

Ron was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He worked at Tecumseh until the company moved out of Marion and later retired from Whirlpool, where he was a tow motor driver for many years.

He will be remembered for his hard work, his quick humor, and the love he showed his family.

The Large family would like to invite anyone who knew Ron to join them for calling hours at the Boyd Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a visitation before the funeral service on Thursday, February 5, 2026, starting at 11 a.m. with the funeral service starting at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be an internment service immediately following the funeral service at the Marion Cemetery. Pastor John Watkins will be officiating all services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capital City Hospice. Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
