Ronald J Leger, of West Newton passed away at home surrounded by family, on Wednesday May 21, 2025. He was 83. Born in Waltham on September 21,1941. Ronald was the son of Antoine and Marie Belliveau Leger. He was 83. He was raised in Newton, graduating from Newton High in 1960, where he was a standout baseball player stemming from his years playing in the Newton Pony League Division A, winning championship titles for Corpus Cristi; Ron earning MVP.

After 2 years attending Newton JR College, Ron enlisted in the US Marine Corps serving in the Air Wing as Crew Chief and Door Gunner in the helicopter squadron during two tours in the Vietnam War. Upon returning he went to Coin Electrical school after which he obtained membership in the IBEW 103 Boston electrical Union enjoying a long successful career retaining his membership for over 50+ years. His work took him to various large projects around the country, including 14 vested years in Alaska LU 1547 working on the North Slope in Proudhoe Bay and on Adak pipeline, part of the military field distribution system at the naval air station. He also worked in Las Vegas, Nevada and later served as General Foreman at MYSTIC POWER PLANT in Everett MA on the construction of one of the largest CO-Generation plants in the world. When Ronald had returned to Boston from Alaska having become a Master Pipe Bender the members of 103 like to call him "The Legend" he shared his knowledge by teaching at the Boston IBEW/JATC Training Facility.

One of Ronalds greatest passions was cars and auto racing. In his younger days he competed in drag races in Sanford, Maine and later raced professionally on the road courses at Watkins Glen, NY. Over the years he owned 23 different Corvettes since 1962 and was an avid fan of NASCAR, INDY, and Formula 1 car racing.

On July 22, 2004, Ronald married Valerie (Lang) Pittman in a beautiful ceremony on KAPALUA Ironwoods Beach, MAUI, HAWAII. They settled in Ron's boyhood home in West Newton, where they enjoyed going for long road trips and frequently visiting Newburyport and Ogunquit capturing the beauty of nature through Ronald's photography, especially his action shots of birds at Plum Island.

Ronald was known for his appreciation of life, family, and friends. He always went the extra mile to show his appreciation, whether it be flowers, thoughtful profound writings in cards or just a phone call to check in on a loved one or mentoring someone at work. His sense of humor and natural strong character and leadership were balanced by his gentleness and compassion, always guided by integrity. His well-known philosophy "Do the right thing".

In addition to his wife Valerie (Lang) Pittman, Ronald is survived by his children, Alison Leger (Ed Wright) and Andrew Leger (Aziele); stepchildren, Randall Pittman (Ginnie) and Daniel Pittman (Season), and grandchildren, William Bower, Benjamin Pittman(Shannon), Brady Pittman, and Kyle Pittman.

Family and friends will honor and remember Ronald's life by gathering for an Afternoon Wake at the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., Waltham, on Sunday, June 1st, from 3 to 6 p.m., with his funeral service starting at 6 p.m.
