Ronald Lee McGuire, known affectionately as Ron to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, in Evansville, Indiana. Born on December 28, 1955, in Alton, Illinois, Ron's journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his loved ones and a passion for the great outdoors.
Ron is survived by the mother of his children, Rhonda VanZant-Bird, and his significant other, Paula, who both shared in the joys and adventures of his life. He was a beloved brother to Connie (Charles "Monk") Harrelson of Equality, Illinois, Darren McGuire of Brownsville, Illinois, Ray (Grace) McGuire of Carmi, Illinois, and Roger McGuire of Eldorado, Illinois. His legacy continues through his children, Ronald Dean "RD" McGuire and Sara Beth Ashworth, who will forever hold dear the lessons and love he imparted.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Miona McGuire, and his brothers, Thomas "Jay" McGuire, Daniel McGuire, Brian Keith "Tater" McGuire, Kelly "O" McGuire, and Darrel McGuire. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he often spoke fondly of the memories they shared.
Ron's professional life was as a master welder, dedicating 49 years of skillful craftsmanship to J&J Welding Inc. His work was not just a job but a testament to his hardworking nature and his ability to create lasting structures that served as a metaphor for the strong relationships he built throughout his life. His commitment to excellence was also evident during his time in the Army, where he served his country with honor and pride.
Known by his nickname "Hillbilly," Ron was a man who found true contentment in the simplicity of nature. He was happiest when he was outdoors, fishing rod in hand or setting up camp under the stars. These moments were only made better when shared with his family, whom he loved to bring together for such excursions, instilling in them his own appreciation for nature's beauty.
Ron's life was a reflection of his values: family, hard work, and the enjoyment of life's simple pleasures. His laughter and stories will be missed at family gatherings, but his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. As we say goodbye to Ronald Lee McGuire, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the countless tales of his adventures and the enduring impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Ron's journey on earth has concluded, but the echoes of his presence will be felt for generations to come.
