Ronald N. Nadeau, born on August 21, 1948, in Biddeford, Maine, to proud parents Arthur Nadeau and Laurette Belanger, left this world on October 20, 2023. He passed away surrounded by his family, and he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, diverse skills, and a passion for life.
Ronald retired as a transportation foreman for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard but was a man of many talents and experiences. He was a true jack of all trades, having pursued careers in carpentry, and truck driving. Throughout his life, he exhibited dedication and commitment to all his endeavors, earning the respect and admiration of those he worked with.
One of Ronald's favorite places on Earth was Embden Pond, where he found solace and joy. He cherished the beauty of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and exploring the wilderness on four-wheelers and snowmobiles. Ronald had a sharp mind and loved to challenge it with crossword puzzles, reading, and watching Jeopardy. He was not afraid to experiment in the kitchen and could whip up a meal with whatever he had on hand. He also enjoyed singing old French Canadian songs, embracing his cultural heritage.
However, what truly defined Ronald's life was his love for his family. He was a devoted husband for 49 years to his beloved late wife, Helen P. (Chabot) Nadeau, and they shared a love that was an inspiration to all who knew them. Ron was a role model to many, especially to his children. He cared deeply for his family and would brag about them to anyone who would listen. He cared for his wife through several bouts of cancer and held her when she took her last breath. He was devastated by her loss but found joy and love again when he met Lynne Kirchhoff from Sarasota. They had a year of wonderful adventures together before he became ill. Their time together was cut much too short by his passing.
His sister, Jackie Nadeau, preceded him in death.
Ronald's memory lives on in the hearts of his surviving family. He is survived by three siblings, his brother Paul Nadeau, his sister Joanne Precourt and her husband David, and his brother Richard Nadeau and his husband Rich Jasperson. Two children, daughter Dawn Pooler and her husband Philip and son Mathieu Nadeau and his wife Lindsey. Grandfather to Tori Leach and her husband, Ralph, Zachary Nadeau and Abigail Nadeau. Great-grandfather to Gabriella Nadeau, Shelby Leach and Benjamin Leach. He also has several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at Hope Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 25th from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, October 26th at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the St. Joseph Church hall.
