Ronald Paul Nutt, 82, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, with family at his bedside.
Ron was born on March 1, 1942, to Clarence and Letha Blanche (Copper) Nutt in McCune, Kansas. He graduated from McCune Rural High School in 1960, and from Kansas State University- Pittsburg in 1966, with a Bachelor's of Science.
Ron worked as an OR surgical tech in Spokane, WA, during college. After graduation, he taught high school science in McCall, ID, as well as volunteered for the fire department during the summer. In the 1970s, he worked for the Museum of Atomic Science and Energy in Oak Ridge. He later worked for Moore's Lumber Company in Roanoke, VA. In 1980, he moved to Kansas and worked as a Developmental Coach and Public Speaker for Padgett-Thompson Seminars for almost 18 years. Finally, he moved to Spokane, Washington, where he worked as a caregiver in a series of group homes for developmentally delayed adults. He retired at 80 years old, returning to Pittsburg to be near his children.
Throughout his life, Ron loved gardening, '56 Thunderbirds, his Westies, cooking, and fart jokes. He was an easy friend and father-figure to everyone who met him. A good listener who provided sage advice, Ron was also the life of the party. He was a wise, gentle, compassionate soul who always put others first.
He is survived by a daughter, Revonna Johnson (Tyler) of Kansas City, MO; a son, Copper Nutt of Knoxville, TN; a brother, Glenn Nutt of McCune, KS; a sister, Lu Ross of Spokane, WA; First wife Barbara Lake, and second wife Joyce Nutt; numerous nieces and nephews, other close relatives, and many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gordon Nutt, sister, Nora Shaffer, son, Warner Brannon, and beloved "girls" Kallie, Molly, and Rosie.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 1:30 PM at the McCune City Cemetery with Aaron Williams officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.

I became a friend of Ron's over the phone when I was searching for Addie, my Westie. I found him to be a very kind and a genuine person. I had the pleasure to meet he and his sister Lu in person on his last visit to Spokane. My condolences to Joyce and his entire family.
