Ronald Edward Omaits

Ronald E. Omaits, known affectionately as Ron to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on August 9, 1937, in Piney Fork, Ohio, to parents Edward and Elizabeth Omaits.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elizabeth, sister Sylvia Giuliani, brother Roger Omaits, first wife Lila Omaits, and his son Keith Omaits. His legacy continues through his beloved wife Esther (née Dahs), sons Wayne (Sharon Andersson), Todd (Leslie), Brad (Dee), ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, beloved uncle, and cherished friend to many.
A proud graduate of Mayfield High School in 1956, Ron attended Ohio State University before honorably serving his country in the United States Army. Upon his return from the army, Ron was the owner and operator of the Miles View Inn and later Ohio Auto Top and Glass.
Ron's love of wood and leather working was evident in the beautiful pieces he created. He enjoyed gardening and was a proud DIY enthusiast. Ron's talent for winemaking was recognized when he won best of show at the Geauga County Fair in 2009.
Ron also had a love for cooking and baking. His cookie trays were legendary, especially at Christmas, when he joyfully shared them with everyone. His love of sports was unmistakable as he cheered on his favorite teams.
His presence in our lives was a gift, and while we will miss his funny stories and loving hugs, his memory will continue to inspire and comfort us. Ron will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A visitation and prayer service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at The Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024. The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. John's United Church of Christ, 2712 W. Mason Rd, Milan, Ohio 44846. Family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment to follow at St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery.
