Ronald E. Pottorff, 87, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover.
Born September 7, 1934, in Wilmington, Delaware, he was a son of the late Albert A. Pottorff and the late Helen E. (Feeser) Bealing.
Ron was a Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War, British Isles, from 1951-1955. He was an avid and accomplished golfer and loved spending time in warmer climates. Ron greatly looked forward to his daily lunches at North 5th Street Diner in McSherrystown.
Ron is survived by three daughters, Bobbi Jo Hughes and her husband Marvin of Hanover, Penni Hodum and her husband David of Glenville, Patti Pottorff of Elmyra, NY; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a loving church family and many friends in Florida.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pottorff was preceded in death by his sister, Joann Yost.
Per Ron's wishes, his body has been donated to Humanity Gifts Registry.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. Kevin D. Orewiler officiating.
Visitation with the family will occur before the service, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 N Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
