Ronald "Quack" Quakenbush Obituary

Ronald "Quack" Neal Quakenbush, passed away on May 3, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, at the age of 87. Born on December 10, 1937, in New Albany, Indiana, he was a proud alumnus of New Albany High School, graduating in the class of '56.

Ronald dedicated much of his life to serving his community, notably as the Superintendent for the Floyd County Highway Department. His contributions to public service were paralleled by his deep commitments to various local organizations, including the Jeffersonville Jaycee's, the American Legion, and active involvement in New Albany High School special events. He was also a proud member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, reflecting his strong faith and connection to his community.

A man of many interests, Ronald enjoyed golfing, supporting IU Sports, and spending leisurely days at the beach. He cherished moments spent with friends at Vic's Café and valued the time he spent with his family.

Ronald served his country honorably in the United States National Guard and was discharged on July 13, 1961. His dedication to service earned him the esteemed title of Kentucky Colonel, a testament to his character and commitment to those around him.

He is survived by his son, Timothy Neal Quakenbush, and his daughter, Ronelle Marie (Taylor) Duff. Ronald also leaves behind his grandchildren: Courtney Caye (Chase) Wooley, Casey Ann (Patrick) Sheehan, Bailey Ann (Steven) Klein, and Peyton (Kyleigh) Duff. He was a proud great-grandfather to Ava, Canon, Ella, Wyatt, and Emmitt.

Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Quakenbush, and his parents, John Wesley and Irene Rita Quakenbush.

The family invites all who knew Ronald to celebrate his life at the visitation on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions in Ronald’s memory be made to American Cancer Society or SouthernCare Hospice.
