Ronald Rhode Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald C. Rhode, age 78, of Aitkin, MN, a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, on August 15, 2025.

Ron was a man of deep faith who lived his life with God by his side. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Born in 1947 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Carl and Virginia (Warner) Rhode, Ron graduated from high school in 1966. He entered the U.S. Air Force that same year and served honorably during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Sergeant before his discharge in 1970.

In his younger years, Ron worked with the Boy Scouts in Independence, Iowa. He later worked at John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, where he dedicated 30 years before retiring.

Ron enjoyed his retirement in Minnesota, where he spent his time fishing, riding his four-wheeler, and mowing-simple pleasures that brought him great joy. His family meant absolutely everything to him. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzy; his children, Luis Rhode of Brainerd, MN, and Katie (Adam) Fischels of Nevada, IA; and his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Lilly, and Oscar Fischels.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Virginia Rhode; his sisters, Pat Brandenburg and Delores Rhode (who passed away in infancy); and his lifelong friend, Tom Short.

A memorial service will be held in Iowa at a later date. To leave a message of condolence, please visit: www.srtfuneral.com. Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Aitkin.
