I will forever remember Ron as a great professor, a caring mentor, and a friend who encouraged me to teach my first course at UNI...which started a desire in me to teach at the university level. He also played a central role in my life when it came to pursuing my advanced studies at Iowa State.
I loved visiting with him at his home in Cedar Falls where we enjoyed his music, engaged in discussions over many topics, and where I grew quite fond of his birds...loud, but so beautiful.
Someone once told me that meeting just one person can change the direction of a person's life. Ron, for me, you proved to be that person!
Rest in peace, Ron.

I'll never forget taking his Sociology class at UNI-Cue back in the late 1980s. I had brought in a book by Charlie Chaplin "My Life in Pictures" which Dr. Roberts perused as we took a test. I knew he would come across the glamourous picture of Paulette Goddard whom he deeply admired and he was well pleased. He was a wonderful professor and forever changed my outlook on life.

My life was changed by taking a course from Dr. Ron Roberts at UNI in the 1980's. He was a brilliant, funny, kind, unique professor and human being. Not perfect, but ALWAYS working for social justice. He planted so many seeds through his teaching and research. Rest in justice, Ron!
