Ronnie Eugene Barker, 71, of Conroe, Tx, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September, 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his family.
Ronnie was born on July 27, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida to his parents, Earl Edward Barker and Rita Dupree Barker. Growing up in Florida, and Louisiana with his 4 brothers, Ronnies childhood was filled with laughter and mischief. From a very young age, he had a passion for working on classic cars at his dad's shop, a love he carried throughout his life and expressed by owning and restoring serval, over the years. In the late 1960s, he moved to Texas with his family, where his obsession with cars and need for speed, continued to grow, and consume all of his time. He would later find a new love on horseback, spending many years trail riding with his horses and enjoying the wide-opened countryside. Ronnie had a long and fulfilling career, first as a machinist for 20 years, followed by another 20+ years, on the road, as a truck driver. After meeting the love of his life, Lera, in 1982, he began building a family and later settled in Conroe, Texas, where he cherished life with his loved ones. Ronnie was known for his stubbornness and his effortless hard work to provide everything he could for his family.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents Earl Edward and Rita Dupree Barker, his brothers Earl Anthony Barker and Houston Matherne, and his son-in-law John Herbert. Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife of 42 Years, Lera Ellen Renfro Barker, his children, Tammi Herbert; Angela Salters and husband Marcus; Amanda Barker and partner Marcus; Ronnie Barker II and wife Laura; seven adored grandchildren, Mikala & Zaine Herbert; Arriana, Tyanna, & Jeremiah Salters; River Spitz; Hunter Prino; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends that loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at West Conroe Baptist Church on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 11am, followed by a service at Brookside Memorial Park, Houston, at 3pm, for his final resting place.
